At a Hotel

Day 26

Traveling in Italy was both interesting and lots of fun. The pace makes all the difference. Having opportunities to practice speaking Italian made it even more enjoyable, even though at the time I knew but a few expressions. I'm glad to say that now I am becoming a much better student of the language. I thought today I'd focus on a few words that would be useful at a hotel if someone knocks at the door.

Ascolta Questo:
Chi è? - Who's there?
Un momento. - Just a moment.
Avanti. - Come in.
Torni più tardi, per favore. - Come back later, please.

It pays to be a good traveler and express appreciation for a hotel's staff. They do provide services, but merit being treated as people and not as servants.

Alla prossima!
