School Subjects

Day 22

Working at a high school as I do, there are often discussions about various subjects. I was wondering if I could carry a short conversation in Italian about the core subjects. So, I compiled a brief list and noticed that there is a lot of similarity in the English and Italian names.

• la chimica - chemistry
• la fisica - physics
• la scienza dell'informatica - computer science
• la letteratura - literature
• la geografia - geography
• la storia - history
• l'arte - art

It would not be difficult to string some names of academic subjects into short sentences.

Mi piace la geometria. Ti piace la geografia? Quale classe ti piace più? La signora Allen è l'insegnante d'arte.

This exercise has helped in my effort to build an Italian vocabulary.
