Day 83 of My Italian Learning Journal*
________________________________
Today is the first day of December and I was wondering (now that I know a little Italian) why is December the 12th month of the year and not the 10th. So it was time for a mini-history lesson. I found some information at timeanddate.com. This is a good subject for my practice Italian script for this post. As usual, corrections to my Italian sentences are welcome -- that's one of the reasons I established this blog.
Ascolta Questo:
- Dicembre era originalmente l'ultimo mese del calendario romano.
December was originally the last month of the Roman calendar.
- Mesi non sono stati assegnati al periodo invernale.
Months were not assigned to the winter period.
- I nomi dei mesi erano marzo, aprile, maggio, giugno, luglio, agosto, settembre, novembre e dicembre.
The names of the months were March, April, May, June, July, August, September, November and December.
- Nel calendario gregoriano, dicembre รจ il dodicesimo e ultimo mese.
In the Gregorian calendar, December is the twelfth and last month.
Alla prossima!

*Note: This is my personal journal of daily practice in learning Italian. I welcome Italian grammar corrections. Grazie.
