Vocabulary Building with Cognates

Day 151 of My Italian Learning Journal*
_____________________

At times it's a challenge to balance the time devoted to learning different Italian skills -- reading, writing, and listening. As I was spending some time working on my vocabulary building, I found an extensive list of "false friends" that I share here with any reader who may be working on learning Italian, as I am. The PDF list may also help Italian speakers who are working on learning English. I have found many words that have surprised me, as their appearances do not match their definitions. You may want to check out this useful resource, just click the Italian Virtual School icon at right.

Ascolta Questo:

At the same time the learner needs to watch for the "false friends."
  • I "falsi amici" possono sembrare simili ma avranno un significato moi diferente.
The "false friends" may look similar but will have a very different meaning.
Alla prossima!
