Il Gatto e il Cappello Matto

Day 174 of My Italian Learning Journal*

A few days ago I received a photo of my two grandsons, who are five and six years old, and they were dressed like the Cat in the Hat. The boys are not yet in the first grade. I'm glad their school is allowing the children to have fun. Attending school will become "work" soon enough. Theodor Seuss Geisel (March 2, 1904, to September 24, 1991), better known by his pen name Dr. Seuss, was a writer and cartoonist who published over 60 books. Best known are his "The Cat in the Hat," and "Green Eggs and Ham." With my interest in learning the Italian language, I wonder how popular "Il Gatto e il Cappello Matto" might be.
  • Quando i miei figli erano molto piccoli, mi piaceva leggere loro "Il gatto con il cappello".
When my children were very young I liked to read "The Cat in the Hat" for them.
  • Mi piace la rima usata nelle storie.
I like the rhyming used in the stories.
  • Un altro libro preferito è "Green Eggs and Ham".
Another favorite book is "Green Eggs and Ham."
  • L'autore, Dr. Seuss, ha scritto più di 60 libri.
The author, Dr. Seuss, wrote more than 60 books.
