Valedictorian & Salutatorian

Day 215 of My Italian Learning Journal*

What a great profession and work place I'm in. I work with high school students and what fine young individuals they are. Today it was my privileged and pleasure to take our valedictorian and salutatorian to a Rotary Club luncheon at which our two top students were honored for their achievements. Both young ladies are so bright and talented. Soon they will be off to a university and pursue their professions. It is most rewarding to have been part of the lives during their high school years. (Corrections to my Italian practice script below are welcome.)

• I nostri valedictorian e salutatorian sono giovani donne quest'anno.
  Our valedictorian and salutatorian are young ladies this year.

• È interessante il fatto che la maggior parte della nostra scuola valedictorians e salutatorians sono stati giovani donne, anche se il nostro corpo studentesco è quasi metà e metà ragazzi e ragazze.
  It is interesting that most of our school's valedictorians and salutatorians have been young ladies, even though our student body is almost half and half boys and girls.

• Oggi i nostri valedictorian e salutatorian sono stati onorati in un pranzo del Rotary Club.
  Today our valedictorian and salutatorian were honored at a Rotary Club luncheon.

• È un piacere per me lavorare con tali incredibili giovani individui.
  It is a pleasure for me to work with such amazing young individuals.
