English Channel Tunnel Opens 1994

On May 6, 1994, a rail tunnel under the English Channel was officially opened. England’s Queen Elizabeth II and French President Francois Mitterand presided over the ceremony. Twelve years ago my wife and I took our first trip to Europe. We first tour London and surrounding areas and then traveled through the channel tunnel to France. In 1996, the American Society of Civil Engineers identified the tunnel as one of the Seven Wonders of the modern world. (Corrections to any part of my practice Italian script below are welcome.)
