Japanese Tea Ceremony

Day 234 of My Italian Learning Journal*
_____________________

I sat before my PC with a cup of tea and thought about the Japanese Tea Ceremony I had seen in movies. I'm having chamomile tea tonight, not green Japanese tea. The Japanese tea ceremony is called Chanoyu, Sado or simply Ocha in Japanese. This ceremony dictates focusing one's attention on the predefined movements. Some have described this ritual as "an art and a spiritual discipline." Below I have embedded a short video of a tea ceremony -- a bit of Hollywood, from the movie, The Karate Kid. (Corrections for my grammar in my practice Italian script below are welcome.)

Ascolta Questo:
  • Sto prendendo una tazza di tè.
I'm having a cup of tea.
  • Questo mi ha ricordato una cerimonia del tè che ho visto in un film.
This reminded me of a tea ceremony I saw in a movie.
  • Ricordo che c'è una cerimonia del tè nel film The Karate Kid 2.
I remember that there is a tea ceremony in the movie The Karate Kid.
  • La cerimonia del tè è stata descritta come "un'arte e una disciplina spirituale".
The tea ceremony has been described as "an art and a spiritual discipline."

Karate Kid 2

Alla prossima!
