The Rose Ceremony

Day 242 of My Italian Learning Journal*
_____________________

This morning we conducted our Rose Ceremony for our seniors as their graduation approaches. It's like passing on the torch, from senior to junior. Each senior carried a yellow rose and presented it to a junior who will next year be a senior and a role model for underclassmen. In exchange, the junior receives the rose and gives the senior a book about the life St. John Paul II. It is a special occasion for both the students and the parents in attendance. Next week we host an awards banquet for the graduating seniors, and the following week the actual graduation ceremony. (Corrections are welcome for any part of the practice Italian script below.)

Ascolta Questo:
Today our 12th-grade students celebrated our Rose Ceremony.
Each 12th-grade student presented a yellow rose to an 11th-grade student.
In exchange, the 11th-grade students gave a book to the 12th-grade students.
There were many happy parents in the audience.

Alla prossima!
